I know I'm a little late but while I sit in the St. Pete Times Forum waiting for the SEC Men's Tournament to start, I figure I should upload a few photos I shot awhile back. This is the Honda Battle of the Bands I shot in Atlanta this year. The stadium was packed but a few of the bands were lacking. Even my alma mater, North Carolina Central University, showed up but didn't show out. I think HBCU bands have somewhat lost their sizzle. Trying to combine ghetto or hood with classical doesn't mix too well.
There were a series of bands who presented a show based around our 44th President Barack Obama but somewhere down the line lost everyone in the stadium. When did a plus size dance girl decide it'll be a good idea to chase a ghetto Ronald McDonald with an orange seat cushion in the shape of a chicken nugget. HBCU's WHERE IS YOUR INTEGRITY!! Bring back the essence of black collegiate entertainment. Even though I was limited from shooting every band, here are a few photos I shot that actually ran in newspapers.
